Phakic Intraocular Lens

Phakic Intraocular Lens, sometimes referred to as Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) are ideal for patients with symptoms of myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (far-sightedness) and/or astigmatism.

Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) are designed to correct visual problems much the same way as an external contact lens. Unlike external contact lens, Implantable Contact Lenses are placed inside the eye behind the iris (coloured part of the eye) and in front of the eye's natural lens.

The Implantable Contact Lens are a very thin, foldable lens, which is inserted into the eye through a tiny sutureless corneal incision during a 30 minute local anaesthetic procedure.

A Visian Collamer lens similar to a contact lens is permanently placed inside your eye. The lens does not alter any structures within the eye or on the cornea and can easily be removed or replaced if required.
